THE LONELY VAMPIRE c. 9/17, After one hundred years of vampires in Romania, in 1578 the last of the vampires are killed in the city of Gheorgheni. A werewolf is angry and determined to find missing vampires. Present day, Newcastle Upon Tyne city in Northumberland, England, Ileana Vladislava is a lonely vampire in a countryside castle where she often listens to music and watches television. Ileana lives eternally off blood taken from the deer and bears she kills. Longing for a beautiful female protege to expand the vampire family, Ileana encounters Myrna at a library, and later appears as a bat to transform Myrna. THE OUT WORLD c. 9/16, Since building Apollonia, a 3-mile-long space station orbiting the Moon, USA space agency GalaXplore has built and launched Themis spacecraft in 2269 operated by intelligent humanoid robots called the Mechanics for deep space exploration. On Apollonia, Sara Masters communicates with Earth and the Mechanics sending and receiving electronic messages reporting on the progress of Themis. Themis travels through a wormhole exiting into an asteroid field in an unknown galaxy, a part of space called The Out World. Themis is struck by a large asteroid causing damage to the ship which breaks apart and crash lands on a planet inhabited by an advanced gray alien extraterrestrial race. Only one Mechanic survived the crash and it is damaged.
